Abstract
This article proposes a synthesis that addresses an explanatory gap in the foundation of the Austrian economic tradition. Starting from abstraction as a primary act of distinction, it traces the structural conditions under which sustainable cooperation becomes viable. It identifies the prohibition on the initiation of violence as a structural principle of cooperation and follows its historical unfolding through discrete levels of civilization: family, clan, tribe, nation, religion, and civil society.
